What do high school gym classes do?
High school physical education course content must include instruction in each of the eight content areas:
- The effect of physical activity upon dynamic health.
- Mechanics of body movement.
- Aquatics.
- Individual/dual sports.
- Gymnastics/tumbling.
- Team sports.
- Rhythms/dance.
- Combatives.
What does the gym teach you?
It teaches you resilience, it teaches you patience, and it teaches you that each and every time you are knocked down, you have a choice whether or not you will stay down. If you believe that failure is final, that failure can keep you down, then you have lost.
Does gym class count toward GPA?
Every course (with the below exceptions) counts toward the GPA, including P.E. and elective. Not counted toward the GPA is any + or – For example, B+ or B- counts the same as B when you figure out your GPA. Not counted toward the GPA is any course for which the grade has been omitted.
Should gym classes be graded?
Physical Education classes help to teach teens about the importance of exercise, but how fit they are personally should not affect their GPA. Teenagers should be graded on their test scores and participation, not how their bodies work and react to extreme physical activity.
Is PE part of your GPA?
The high school GPA excludes physical education (PE), Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), and remedial courses. Remedial work is defined as any course that is not counted toward high school graduation. Failing grades must be included in the GPA calculation unless the course has been retaken.
How do I get good grades in the gym?
Teamwork, cooperation, and good sportsmanship are all important parts of gym class (and your grade). Remember that your grade won’t suffer if you’re not the star athlete every day. Make sure you’re passing to your classmates and giving them a chance to play instead of always dominating the game.
